Patisserie Cocorico, Cardiff.

Project Summary:

Location: Cardiff
Sector: Retail
Value: £6K
Duration: 3 Months
Client: Patisserie Cocorico

Situated just a short walk from a nice residential area Pontcanna in Cardiff, the premium Patisserie Cocorico opened its door to their new, exciting premises in the summer of 2015.

The French Patissier Laurian Veaudour opened his first Patisserie in April 2010. The previous shop was located a few doors down on Whitchurch road in Cardiff. Laurian followed his dream in building up the Cocorico brand, and started planning a relocation to new, more upmarket premises with the aim of increasing the customer experience and building up the premium brand identity.

Laurian approached our team in November 2014. His brief was to create a modern space with a premium feel to add that special ‘je ne sais quoi’ to his artistic patisserie products. His passion for the design and attention to detail played a huge role in the lighting concept for his shop.

The client was not only interested in the premium look and feel, but also what the new lighting would feel like in his new shop. After several site visits, which our staff unsurprisingly enjoyed very much, we put forward the architectural suspended feature lighting  Talla as the main luminaire for the dining area of the patisserie.

The matte black finish of the 650 mm diameter Talla adds a contemporary feel to the space. The fluorescent fittings were fitted with 4000K lamps achieving a clean white light, perfect for a contemporary retail environment. The direct/-indirect light distribution adds an extra dimension to the ceiling space.

Above the counter, the beautiful premium pendants, Nice In, from Tobias Grau were used. The slim conical shape of the Nice In reflects the environment and adds a premium feel to the space. The visually interesting optical lens allows even and glare free light distribution and the 2700K colour temperature creates an exciting stage for the displayed, mouthwatering goodies.

The LED downlight Esk was used for the circulation areas.

The dimmable LED spotlight with 4000K matches the colour temperature of the patisserie. The minimalist bezel of the downlight blends in with the architecture and the adjustable spot allows the user the flexibility.

The lighting was supplied in time to the satisfaction of the customer. For some reason, our staff keep visiting the patisserie, making sure the lighting still performs well. Looking at the images they came back with, we are starting to understand why.
